Meet the Coaches
JONATHAN SPELLER - CRICKET DIRECTOR
Jonathan Speller is the Director of Cricket at The Wimbledon Club. He has over 20 years of coaching experience across all levels of the game. Sessions will be tailored to each of his clients individual needs, accelerating their progress and attainment, and ultimately supporting them to achieve their longer term aspirations in the game.
DILSHAN DE SILVA - BOYS HEAD COACH
Dilshan is Head of Boys Cricket and Academy Coach at The Wimbledon Club. He has +15 years coaching experience across various levels and is currently completing his ECB Level 3 qualification. Dilshan also works closely with Surrey age group cricket and has a good understanding of expectations at the county age group level. All skills can be covered, but Dilshan's specialty is Spin bowling. Sessions will be tailored to each individual depending on what their goals and aspirations are.
REHAN MALIK - GIRLS HEAD COACH
Rehan Malik also known to most as “Coach Ray”. A sportsman with a passion for Cricket both for playing and coaching. Rehan holds an ECB Level 2 qualification and is currently on the ECB Level 3 Advance programme. His education background is Sports & Exercise Science, and holds a Level 4 qualification for Strength & Conditioning. He has over ten years of coaching experience with various clubs in Surrey and he is one of our two Head Coaches that leads the Girls cricket programme.
BEN CHAMBERLAIN - LEAD COACH
Ben is an avid sportsman who has been involved within cricket for over 15 years and as experience in a high level sporting environment. He is an ECB Qualified Level 2 coach and one of the Lead Coaches of the Juniors at Wimbledon Cricket Club.
MONTY SAJDEWA - LEAD COACH
Monty has over 12 years of coaching & playing experience in the Surrey Championship. Previously a Surrey CCC coach of 5 years he also holds an ECB Level 2 coaching qualification. Monty believes in letting the player organically grow to enhance their natural ability. His focus is on an all-round development model that will help the cricketer become physically fit & strong. His aim is to help each cricket play for longer periods of time, to recover quickly and to perform more efficiently.
MICHAEL TURNER - LEAD COACH
Michael is a coach and a player at The Wimbledon Cricket Club and has experience training under several high quality coaches from whom he draws his experience, such as Gary Kirsten, Darren Stevens & Marcus Trescothick. His specialty is in batting and wicketkeeping. All sessions will be tailored to each individuals needs and a session report produced for both parents and the player to aid their development.
Winter Nets: Senior nets start on Monday 3rd February 2021 8-10pm in the Sports Hall
Senior Training: Held on Tuesdays from 14th April (just after Easter) from 6.30-8.30pm at Church Road throughout the season except for 3 weeks during the Wimbledon Fortnight.
We aim to hold a Coach Support Worker course at the club on an annual basis. Details for 2021 will be posted once details have been finalised.
